Ana Mezic was Editor-in-Chief of The Channels, Santa Barbara City College's award winning school paper. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Literary Journalism at University of California, Irvine. She has been a staff writer for The Independent, Noozhawk, and The Sentinel. During her time at The Channels she won 7 state-wide awards at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges for her feature and opinion writing.

Olive Street Murder Suspects in Court

A preliminary hearing began last Friday for two alleged members of Santa Barbara's Eastside gang charged in the February murder of Kelly Hunt. Joseph Castro, 20, and Isaac Jimenez, 23, were arrested in August and have been held in County Jail since then on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and participation in a criminal street gang.
